Childhood past and present

In this lesson, we are going to be talking about childhood past and present. I will set the context for this topic with the following example:

My parents believe children should always listen to elders, obey and respect them, and be good to others. I believe that children should go out to play, eat, keep themselves healthy and be safe. My child believes that he should be listened to and given the opportunity to make choices.

In this next exercise, we are going to explore the changing ways children are seen by society. This exercise will help us think about how childhood is changing in our society and culture. What does each generation think about childhood?

You will be asked to think about childhood from three different perspectives: our parents, elders perspective, our own perspective, the perspective of children today.
