Unit 1. The Context for Children
Unit 2: Understanding child abuse
Unit 3: Understanding child safeguarding
Unit 4: Safeguarding concerns and abuse

2.1: Learning points

In this lesson, we have considered how attitudes, beliefs and values play a role in safeguarding children from abuse.

Key learning points include:

  • It is hard for us to accept that people in organisations, set up to help and protect children, may abuse them
  • What might be abusive in one person’s view may not be seen that way by another
  • We all use our own personal experiences, values and attitudes when making judgements about abusive behaviour.
